Mariano Andrade studied Film at the Escuela Superior de Artes y Espectáculos de Madrid (TAI), Spain, where he earned his degree as a Film Director. Later, in Los Angeles, California, he completed postgraduate studies at the American Film Institute (AFI), specializing in Film Directing. He holds a Master's Degree in Screenwriting from Universidad Finis Terrae in Santiago.

In Los Angeles, he worked for MTM Productions on the TV series Hill Street Blues. He then returned to Spain, focusing on directing commercial spots, particularly with Origen Films. In the mid-1990s, he returned to Chile, continuing his work in advertising film production at Filmocentro Cine.

His teaching career has developed mainly in Viña del Mar, where he founded the Escuela de Cine de Chile (Viña del Mar branch). He later directed the Film program at Universidad Viña del Mar and currently teaches at the School of Film at Universidad de Valparaíso and serves as Executive Director of Incubadora Audiovisual, ValparaísoLab.

Throughout his career, he has received awards at various film festivals, served as a juror in several competitions and festivals, worked in industry organizations, and been a member of the Council of Art and the Audiovisual Industry of Chile.

Since then, he has produced, written, and directed several feature films:

  • Rojo Intenso (2007) – Executive Producer for Chile, directed by Javier Elorrieta
  • Aller Simple (2005) – Executive Producer for Chile, directed by Jean Marc Brondolo
  • El regalo de Sylvia (2003) – Executive Producer for Chile, directed by Dionisio Pérez
  • Antonia (2001) – Director, Screenwriter, and Executive Producer
  • Valparaíso (1994) – Director, Screenwriter, and Executive Producer
